Newsitem: 'Chirurgenwerk'

Rebroadcast Administering of OvablocŪ in ‘Chirurgenwerk’ on Dutch television.

On Saturday 27 January at 2.20 p.m. (1.20 p.m. GMT) RTL7 shows two OvablocŪ treatments in the ‘Chirurgenwerk in beeld’ (Surgery on screen) programme. The broadcast looks at the (sometimes emotional) considerations that can precede sterilisation. Afterwards doctors explains and shows how women-friendly the OvablocŪ method is.

‘Chirurgenwerk’ is a programme in seven parts that literally shows the work of specialised doctors. These specialists have a broad range of techniques and remedies available, whereby more and more choices are available to the patient.

Light rubber plug
In the programme a gynaecologist performs an OvablocŪ treatment. This involves a lightweight rubber material being inserted in both of the fallopian tubes. The material forms a plug, so that the fallopian tubes stay closed.

The programme shows that:
• this sterilisation method is a fairly simple procedure;
• the vaginal passage (natural entry) is used;
• no (abdominal) wounds or scars occur;
• placement is controlled by means of an x-ray;
• the intervention is virtually painless;
• the patient is immediately mobile after the intervention.
