Newsitem: 'Chirurgenwerk'

Rebroadcast Administering of Ovabloc® in ‘Chirurgenwerk’ on Dutch television.

On Saturday 27 January at 2.20 p.m. (1.20 p.m. GMT) RTL7 shows two Ovabloc® treatments in the ‘Chirurgenwerk in beeld’ (Surgery on screen) programme. The broadcast looks at the (sometimes emotional) considerations that can precede sterilisation. Afterwards doctors explains and shows how women-friendly the Ovabloc® method is.

‘Chirurgenwerk’ is a programme in seven parts that literally shows the work of specialised doctors. These specialists have a broad range of techniques and remedies available, whereby more and more choices are available to the patient.

Light rubber plug
In the programme a gynaecologist performs an Ovabloc® treatment. This involves a lightweight rubber material being inserted in both of the fallopian tubes. The material forms a plug, so that the fallopian tubes stay closed.

The programme shows that:
• this sterilisation method is a fairly simple procedure;
• the vaginal passage (natural entry) is used;
• no (abdominal) wounds or scars occur;
• placement is controlled by means of an x-ray;
• the intervention is virtually painless;
• the patient is immediately mobile after the intervention.
